Trump gets savagely TROLLED for his Diwali tweet; Here is why
US President's attempt to woo the Hindu community by extending Diwali greeting goes all wrong and he ends up getting brutally trolled instead. Check reactions here..
Today, we gathered for Diwali, a holiday observed by Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains throughout the United States & around the world. Hundreds of millions of people have gathered with family & friends to light the Diya and to mark the beginning of a New Year. https://t.co/epHogpTY1A pic.twitter.com/9LUwnhngWJ

His speech at the White House Diwali celebrations on Tuesday was also started the same way on Tuesday with an emphasis on Hinduism. Addressing the people gathered for the celebration, Trump said they were “very impressive group; now I know you are very important, very impressive. I am thrilled to be here for the celebration of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights and I am honoured to host this beautiful ceremony at the White House." Then veering off his text, he added, "Very, very special people." He then interrupted his speech to thank the firefighters who were saving people’s lives in the ravaging California wildfires that killed more than 40 people. He then again picked up his Diwali speech after that, and continued with: "We are gathered today to celebrate a very special holiday observed by Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains throughout the US and around the world." It is apparent that the first tweet that set off the trolls was taken from this second part of his speech. The social media immediately noticed the mistake and lashed Trump over it. Here are the tweets that targeted Trump:It was my great honor to host a celebration of Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, in the Roosevelt Room at the @WhiteHouse this afternoon. Very, very special people! https://t.co/kQk7IvpSFo pic.twitter.com/tYlBABg4JF

This is terrible. It's unconscionable @realDonaldTrump did not know Diwali was a Hindu holiday. So embarrassing. https://t.co/Ggx9OWcuVO

Almost as bad as your forgetting to mention Jews on Holocaust memorial day. Nice work, Einstein.

Has Trump got a degree?

It’s a Hindu festival, you moron. At this rate you’ll be wishing jews a happy Eid and Muslims on Christmas.

Someone tell the WH staff that Diwali is a primarily Hindu celebration and it’s worth, at the very least, mentioning them.
Partial credit to Michael...eerrr... DJT for attempting though! pic.twitter.com/rbkjQWW9Au — jhaff (@killmonger2020) November 14, 2018
