Uttaran & Dil Se Dil Tak actress Rashami Desai opens up about battle with psoriasis

New Delhi: Popular TV actress Rashami Desai is still fondly known for her role of Tapasya in Colors TV’s show ‘Uttaran’. The show co-starring Tina Dutta ran for six long years and completed over 1500 episodes. Rashami later went on to play the role of Shorvari in ‘Dil Se Dil Tak’ opposite Siddharth Shukla. The ‘Ishq Ka Rang Safed’ actress has been missing from the small screens since the time ‘Dil Se Dil Tak’ went off air. Rashami has been away from the glare of media because she was facing some health issues. The beautiful actress was suffering from psoriasis, which is a skin condition. Desai, while getting treated for psoriasis, gained weight and was not allowed to go under the sun. (Rashami & Tina in Uttaran) Rashami, while talking to a leading daily, opened up about suffering from the skin condition. ‘’I have been dealing with health issues since past few months. Last year, in December, I was diagnosed with Psoriasis, which is a skin problem. It takes a lot of time to be cured and some times, one isn’t completely cured. Since the last four months, I was on a steroid treatment program which caused weight gain. I was not allowed to go in the sun as the heat aggravates the problem. It also escalates due to stress but it was impossible not to be stressed out about the condition as I am actor and in this business, an actor’s face is everything,” the actress told Hindustan Times. (Rashami with Siddharth in Dil Se Dil Tak) Thankfully, Rashami Desai’s psoriasis is under control now and she is working on shedding her extra weight. The former Jhalak Dikh Laja contestant said that it was tough for actresses to talk about such health issues openly as it can have an impact on their careers. The ‘Adhuri Hamari Kahani’ actress stressed that she talked about the same because she wanted people to know that psoriasis can be treated. Rashami further said that it was tough for her to deal with the weight gain as people commented about it. “I don’t respond to those who do. I just smile and move on. Losing weight is so tough and I have been trying really hard. But I am not going to be stressed about it. My work keeps me focused. I have learnt to give my health priority and not to dismiss any health issue,” the actress told HT. Kudos to Rashami for speaking about it. On the professional front, Rashami was recently seen in an episode of ‘Khatra Khatra Khatra’. During her treatment, the ‘Pari Hoon Main’ actress shot for a digital show.
