VIRAL SACH: This overloaded train is carrying migrants from UP, Bihar fleeing from Gujarat? Here is the truth
An image of a train overloaded with passengers is being circulated on social media claiming that it shows people leaving Gujarat.
New Delhi: In the backdrop of mass exodus of North Indians from Gujarat after the rape of a toddler by a Bihar man, an image of a train overloaded with passengers is being circulated on social media claiming that it shows people leaving Gujarat.
The message with the picture says - UP and Bihar migrants fleeing Gujarat, reminds India-Pakistan partition of 1947.
The picture that claims to reflect the burning issue of exodus from Gujarat immediately went viral on social media.
The post generated outraged reactions on social media. One of the users retweeted the picture saying “those who did not see 1947 partition can now see the 2018 partition.”
To find whether the picture is of a Gujarat station and whether or not the passengers are UP-Bihar migrants fleeing the state, ABP News started its probe.
We talked to the spokesperson of Indian Railways R D Vajpayee who informed that the image is of a passenger train that runs in the Mathura-Alwar section. The claim that the image is of a Gujarat train is ruled out.
On digging deeper we found that the image was shared 8 years ago in the year 2010 by news agency Reuters which described the image to be of a train heading to a religiously significant ‘Govardhan mela’ in Govardhan city.
Thus the claims of the message have been proved false in Viral Sach investigation.
