Shahjahanpur: In an outrageous incident, a girl was brutally thrashed while she was selling rakhi in front of a gurudwara (religious place for Sikh) in Shahjanpur, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. The incident led to unrest in the area, post which a case has been filed against 300 people. Considering the sensitivity of the situation, heavy police force has been deployed in the region, including DM, SP, SDM and Rapid Action Force. To ensure situation remains under control in all circumstances, a riot control vehicle has also been kept on standby. The cops have also arrested several miscreants. The DM and SP have also urged people to maintain calm via flag march. As per the police official, a 14-year-old girl named Priyanka was selling Rakhis in front of a gurudwara. After the security guard asked the girl to remove her stall from there, unrest erupted between two groups; post which the guard hit Priyanka with a stick, which led to a wound in her leg. As per the official, as soon as the girl’s relatives got to know about the incident, they flocked outside the religious place and started pelting stones. After getting to know about the incident, the cops reached the spot; but they could not control the crowd. Considering the aggression of the crowd, the cops had to resort to tear gas and rubber bullets; but the miscreants kept pelting stones. After the stone pelting stopped, the cops resorted to lathi-charge and took the situation under control.
