Telangana Election Results 2018: TRS crushes all, gets absolute majority

The much touted tie-up between the Congress and Telugu Desam Party, which took on the TRS in the December 7 elections, came a cropper with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-led outfit winning a mere two seats. The Congress, which won 21 seats in the previous elections in 2014, secured 19 this time.

K Chandrasekhar Rao to be elected TRS legislature party leader on Wednesday. A meeting of the legislature party has been convened at 11.30 AM in Hyderabad on Wednesday, PTI said citing sources.

TRS has won on 79 seats, is leading 9 seats.

Ramadoss greets Telangana CM: PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Tuesday greeted TRS leader and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on his party's victory in Assembly elections. "I extend my heartfelt greetings and wishes to you and the people of Telangana on behalf of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK)," Ramadoss said. The PMK leader praised Rao for his achievements as Chief Minister in the fields of agriculture, irrigation, education, health, industry and employment. (IANS)

Counting for 114 seats has been done so far, of which TRS has won 84 seats and is leading at 3 seats. AIMIM has won 7 seats .

TRS nominee M Gopal wins Musheerabad Assembly segment securing 72,919 votes; wrests seat from sitting MLA and Telangana BJP president K Laxman who comes third with 30,769 while the Congress' Anil Kumar is second with 36,031 votes.

AIMIM retains seven seats in Hyderabad: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) maintained its grip on Hyderabad politics, retaining seven Assembly seats in the Telangana capital. The party's floor leader in the dissolved Assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi, was re-elected from Chandrayangutta constituency for the fifth consecutive term. He defeated his nearest rival Sayyad Shahezadi of the BJP by over 80,000 votes. The other winners of the AIMIM are Mumtaz Ahmed Khan (Charminar), Ahmed Pasha Quadri (Yakutpura), Jaffar Hussain (Nampalli), Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala (Malakpet), Moazzam Khan (Bahadurpura) and Kausar Mohiuddin (Karwan).
