In poll-bound Rajasthan, unaccounted cash worth lakhs, gold, silver seized from Ashram Express

As a part of the operation that started on Saturday night and continued till Sunday morning, the search was conducted in the same train at Jaipur, Ajmer and Beawar junctions.

New Delhi: In the poll bound state of Rajasthan , the Anti Terrorism Squad and GRP seized huge amount of unaccounted cash and jewelry from Ashram Express train, which is being said to be Hawala money. In the raid conducted at Jaipur Junction in the Delhi to Ahmedabad train the ATS team found lakhs of cash inside parcels stuffed in sacks. Apart from the cash, 2 quintal silver and 2 kgs of gold have also been recovered. The cash was stuffed in sixteen large sacks in the train. DIG (ATS) Prafulla Kumar said after informants alerted the police about the possibility of hawala cash in the train, the luggage bogie was searched where six large packets were found. When the packets were opened huge amount of cash was found stuffed inside them. As a part of the operation that started on Saturday night and continued till Sunday morning, the search was also conducted in Ajmer and Beawar as well after receiving inputs from ATS Jaipur. From Jaipur, one crore and twenty lakh rupees were discovered from four sacks.  Later when the train reached Ajmer, search was conducted again and 96 lakh cash money was found along with 2 kgs of silver.  When the train reached Beawar, search was again conducted in its bogies and some documents were also received from the parcel bogie of the train. The squad as of now is probing the matter to find out to whom the cash in the form of parcels was to be delivered and which gang is involved in it.
