New Delhi:Indian origin couple in US that was arrested for allegedly abusing their six-month-old daughter, was granted bail a week later.

The parents of the infant were arrested last Friday after they took her to a hospital with a swollen left arm.

The couple from Tamil Nadu named Prakash Settu and Mala Paneerselvam, will however not get the custody of the child and her twin brother. Child Protective Services will continue to look after them.

The couple invited trouble when they questioned the hospital for the expensive medical tests prescribed to the child. They attempted to take their child away from the hospital against the doctor’s advice and became the victim of US’ stringent child protection laws..

The couple was arrested on the grounds of neglect after they were hesitant for the medical tests. However as per reports they questioned the tests just because they were too expensive and exceeded their affordability.

The incident has led to outrage among the people of the community with many calling it unjust to separate infants from parents.

Friends and family members of the couple have denied all the allegations and are organising online fundraiser to help the couple fight a legal battle.
