'Dushyant Betrayed People Of Haryana': Ex-BSF Jawan Tej Bahadur Quits JJP As Party Lends Support To BJP

In a Facebook video, Yadav accused the JJP of being B team of the saffron party and said that Chautala has betrayed those who voted in the name of former Haryana Chief Minister Devi Lal by joining hands with the BJP.

Chandigarh: Former Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav, who was sacked from Army in 2017, resigned from the Jannanayak Janata Party (JJP) after party leader Dushyant Chautala extended his support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form government in Haryana. In a Facebook video, Yadav accused the JJP of being B team of the saffron party and said that Chautala has betrayed those who voted in the name of former Haryana Chief Minister Devi Lal by joining hands with the BJP. According to the latest government, Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government, after JJP support, has staked claim to form government in Haryana and Khattar will once again become CM and Chautala will take oath as his deputy on Sunday. "I feel I made a very big mistake in joining JJP," Yadav said in a nearly three-minute long video clip. "Dushyant Chautala has betrayed the people of Haryana, and those who voted for him, by supporting the BJP to form the government. The people who gave the JJP 10 seats did so not because of him or the JJP name, but because of the ideals of Devi Lal (two-time Haryana Chief Minister who is Mr Chautala's great-grandson)," he said adding that he has left JJP as it has joined forces with the BJP. Yadav had joined JJP one month ahead of the Assembly Polls in Haryana. He contested the election from Karnal constituency against Khattar. He finished a distant third, by getting only 3,175 votes to Khattar's 79,722. Tarlochan Singh of the Congress was second with 34,601 votes. "I had my suspicions. I felt that JJP was B-team of BJP. Haryana has given mandate that ousts BJP but Dushyant Chautala has supported the party that people don't want," Yadav said, who has fought the legislative elections on issues of unemployment and corruption. The BJP won 40 out of the 90 seats in the Haryana Assembly, falling short of the majority mark by just six seats. The Congress won 31 seats whereas Chautala's JJP became the kingmaker by winning 10 seats in the state. JJP, along with eight independent candidayes, agreed to form an alliance on Friday night to make government in the state. The BJP also agreed to let Chautala take the deputy chief minister’s post in the Khattar-led 2.0 government. Earlier in the day, Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Khattar and Chautala visited Governor's house  to submit his party's letter of support to the BJP. Despite the election result going down to the wire in Haryana, the BJP has managed to put together an alliance government in the northern state within 48 hours with support from JJP.
