After Amul, Mother Dairy too hikes milk prices by Rs 2 per litre; here's how much it will cost you now

One of country's leading milk supplier Mother Dairy on Friday announced an increase of Rs 2 per litre in its milk prices, citing higher procurement costs from farmers.

New Delhi: One of country's leading milk supplier Mother Dairy on Friday announced an increase of Rs 2 per litre in its milk prices, citing higher procurement costs from farmers. According to an official statement released by the company, prices have been raised for only poly pack milk and not the bulk vended milk, also known as the token milk. The hike in milk prices by Mother Dairy will be effective across Delhi NCR from Saturday, May 25. The 1 litre pack has been increased by Re 1/- only and the 500 ml pack by Rs 2/per litre effectively impacting the consumers by Re 1 per pack. The hike in milk prices by Mother Dairy comes days after another leading milk supplier Amul revised its milk prices by Rs 2 per litre. “As a responsible organisation, Mother Dairy will continue to support the dairy farmers with remunerative prices and this very reason has necessitated the price increase. However, while paying higher prices to producers by 7-8% compared to the last year, the consumer prices were kept intact,” company’s official statement said. After the price hike, one litre of full cream milk will cost Rs 53 to consumers in national capital compared to previous price of Rs 52/ litre. Half litre of full cream milk by Mother Dairy will cost Rs 27 compared to the previous price of Rs 26/half litre. Likewise, rates for Tonned Milk has been revised to Rs 42 per litre and Rs 22 per half litre, respectively. Double Tonned milk will now cost Rs 35 per litre and Rs 19/ half litre. Amul on May 20 announced that it will increase the retail price of milk by Rs 2. RS Sodhi, Managing Director of GCMMF ltd (AMUL) made the announcement and also stated that the revised prices will come into effect from May 21. The revised price of 500 millilitre (ml) pack of 'Amul Gold' in Ahmedabad will be Rs 27, 'Amul Shakti' at Rs 25, 'Amul Taaza' at Rs 21 and 'Amul Diamond' at Rs 28, it said.
