ABP News 'Desh Ka Mood' surveys a series of pre-poll surveys done to gauge the public opinion at regular intervals. This time the survey was conducted to sense the opinion of the electorate across the nation with reference to the Lok Sabha elections of 2019.

Background

With just six months to go for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and the political parties upping the ante against each other, ABP News on Thursday conducted the 'Mood of the Nation' survey to gauge the public opinion of the electorate and the nation ahead of the crucial polls. The opinion poll was aired on ABP News from 7 pm onwards and also flashed here. The previous survey the channel commissioned gave the NDA the nationwide upper hand over the UPA and projected a whopping 276 out of 543 seats for the ruling coalition. The Congress-led UPA was winning 112 seats.

As per the opinion poll conducted last month, the worrying sign for the BJP was PM Narendra Modi’s waning popularity over the last one year. The good news for the Congress was the steady incremental advance of its President Rahul Gandhi even though he’s trailing way behind from Modi’s popularity chart.

A slight sign of worry for the NDA was the dip in the nationwide vote share compared to 2014. It was seen getting 38% as against UPA’s 25%. BJP's vote share at the national level had gone up to 31 per cent from less than 19 per cent during last elections. At the same time, Congress' vote share had dipped to nearly 19 per cent from over 28 per cent in 2014.
