Lok Sabha Polls: Delhi to witness triangular contest this time; Here is how it has voted in previous general polls
Delhi has seven parliamentary constituencies all of which are currently held by the BJP.
New Delhi: With the announcement of dates for Lok Sabha elections, the national capital braces for a triangular contest between Aam Admi Party, the BJP and the Congress.
In Delhi, the polling for Lok Sabha will be done on May 12 and the votes will be counted on May 23.
After Congress snubbed AAP's proposal of contesting together to take on the BJP, just days before the announcement of dates, a neck-to-neck contest is expected in the national capital between the three parties.
Delhi has seven parliamentary constituencies all of which are currently held by the BJP.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal from AAP, former CM Sheila Dixit from Congress and BJP Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari are the important leaders from the three parties.
Issues of full statehood to Delhi, unauthorised colonies, and growing tension between the Centre and the state, will largely dominate this election.

2014 Elections:
In 2014 Delhi too was swept by the Modi wave and the BJP bagged all 7 parliamentary seats in the state, in an embarrassing defeat for Congress that had won all the seats in the previous general elections.
Of 1,27,11,236 electors, the number of votes polled was 82,71,766 , with a voter turnout of 65.1%
Parliamentary Constituencies: 7 (GEN: 6 | SC: 1)
Party wise break-up of Lok Sabha seats: BJP-7, AAP-0, Congress-0
Vote percentage of parties: BJP- 46.6%, AAP- 33.1%, Congress-15.2%
2009 Elections:
Of 1,10,96,854 electors, the number of votes polled was 57,54,165, with a voter turnout of 51.9%
Parliamentary Constituencies: 7
Party wise break-up of Lok Sabha seats: INC-7, BJP-0
Vote percentage of parties: Congress-57.1%, BJP- 35.2%
In 2004
Of 87,63,475 electors, the number of votes polled was 41,26,233, with a voter turnout of 47.1%

Party wise break-up of Lok Sabha seats: INC-6, BJP-1
Vote percentage of parties: Congress-54.8%, BJP- 40.7 %
