Javadekar hints at political quake in Karnataka after Yeddyurappa-Shivakumar meet

Jaipur (Rajasthan): Prakash Javadekar, BJP’s poll-incharge in Rajasthan, has hinted at a political quake in Karnataka owing to the “unsteady alliance” of JDS and Congress in the state. Responding to a question on the recent meeting between DK Shivakumar and BS Yeddyurappa at the former’s residence, Javadekar said that people of Karnataka are expecting a ‘dhamaka’ anytime since the coalition government in not stable and can never give development to the state. “When the ‘dhamaka’ will happen only ‘BS Yeddyurappa will be able to say.” “We were the single largest party in Karnataka but fell short of forming the government by mere 7 seats. JDS-Congress are known for opportunistic politics and can never give a stable government to the state, he said. BS Yeddyurappa and his son BY Raghavdendra and Belagavi BJP leader Prabhakar Kore recently visited water resources minister DK Shivakumar’s residence in Bengaluru. The meeting raised a lot of eyebrows in the political circles. Speculations set off on whether Shivakumar is closing up with the BJP to get relief from the multiple Income Tax raids at his residence and offices. Some media reports suggested that Yeddyurappa met Shivakumar for construction of a bridge over Sharavathi River in Shivamogga district.  Both the leaders chose not to disclose the nature of the meeting.  The meeting also assumed significance as the two had bitterly locked horns during Karnataka elections. Yeddyurappa had resigned as the chief minister of Karnataka, two days after he took oath. Shivakumar, considered as a trouble shooter of the Congress in Karnataka, was bestowed with the duty of keeping the flock of Congress MLAs together, ensuring they don’t fall to prey to horse-trading and get attached with the BJP. Shivakumar was instrumental in helping Congress recapture the prestigious Bellary Lok Sabha seat from the Reddy brothers who ruled for 14 years. The 56-yearold poll-strategist was recently camping in Hyderabad to oversee the campaigning of Congress for upcoming Telangana elections.  The JDS-Congress alliance proved majority in the house following which the BJP government collapsed. Yeddyurappa has since then been attacking the two parties in the floor of the House and in rallies accusing them of forming a government against the will of the masses. Meanwhile, on queries pertaining to Rajasthan elections, Javadekar exuded confidence of winning with complete majority. He said that the Congress is now visiting temples only to pursue its vote bank politics. “Congress is visiting Hindu temples and asking gotra of PM Modi and CM Raje... Congress is losing government wherever it had formed while BJP is retaining all states where it had been in governance.”
