5 Most Powerful Bikes Between Rs 1 Lakh And 2 Lakh

If you’re seeking power on a budget, here’s a list of the most powerful bikes in India in the Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh range

5 Most Powerful Bikes Between Rs 1 Lakh And 2 Lakh

The Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh price bracket just recently acquired yet another offering, although this time from the 125cc space. The KTM 125 Duke makes a strong case from itself with its premium components, ton of features, nimble handling and a reliable motor. However, its price tag of Rs 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) is a little too steep for what’s after all a 125cc offering. Besides, this price bracket has a couple of bikes to choose from in the 200cc to 400cc range, all offering a lot more power on tap along with other features that make them a better value for money proposition. So, here are the top five most powerful bikes to choose from if you have a budget of around Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.

Yamaha FZ25 - Rs 1.19 lakh

5 Most Powerful Bikes Between Rs 1 Lakh And 2 Lakh

Yamaha made its mark in India as a performance brand with the R15, which became the go-to bike for enthusiasts looking for a serious ride on a budget. However, since then, the Indian market has moved on to higher displacement motorcycles which offer a lot more power around the same price range. Looking at the flourishing entry-level sports bike segment, the Japanese manufacturer introduced its own entrant called the FZ25, the most powerful bike to be produced by the bikemaker in India.

The FZ25 is powered by a 249cc,single-cylinder, air and oil-cooled, fuel-injected motor that dishes out a modest 20.9PS of power and 20Nm of torque. Though the power figures may not seem like much, it’s the way the power is delivered that makes the FZ25 remarkably quick. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, the bike makes the majority of its power between 6,000rpm and 8,000rpm. And then there’s the price of Rs 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) which makes the FZ25 one of the most value-for-money propositions in its segment. That said, the bike is soon expected to be updated with the safety net of ABS, most likely a dual-channel ABS unit.  This could push the price to a little over Rs 1.30 lakh.

Bajaj Pulsar RS200 - Rs 1.39 lakh (ABS), Rs 1.27 lakh (non-ABS)

5 Most Powerful Bikes Between Rs 1 Lakh And 2 Lakh

It’s safe to say that the Pulsar range of motorcycles is what helped the Indian two-wheeler market move towards more performance-oriented commuters. While Bajaj is best known for its entry-level naked sports bikes and semi-faired bikes, it was missing a fully faired performance bike from its lineup. The result was the development of the RS200. It borrows its engine from the highly capable NS200, albeit with a fuel-injector which helps it produce a little more power over its naked sibling. Powering the bike is a 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that churns out 24.5PS at 9,750rpm, while 18.6Nm of torque is produced at  8,000rpm. That’s 1PS and 0.3Nm more than the NS200. Pair these power figures with its full fairing and the bike can clock some serious speeds.

KTM 200 Duke

5 Most Powerful Bikes Between Rs 1 Lakh And 2 Lakh

The KTM 200 Duke which was launched back in 2012 took the motorcycling fraternity by storm with its powerful motor and extremely sharp handling. Moreover, it also featured an all-digital instrument console which read out a host of information. The perfect package then for enthusiasts looking for a bike that’ll do it all, from their daily commutes to corner carving on the weekends. Powering the bike is a 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill that generates a peak power of 24.4PS at 10,000rpm and a maximum torque of 19.2Nm at 8,000rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. The bike’s rev-happy engine and handling dynamics are what makes the 200 Duke ever so special.

KTM 250 Duke - Rs 1.80 lakh

KTM already had the 200 Duke as their “entry-level” naked sports bike while the 390 Duke was positioned at the higher end of the spectrum. While the two were doing exceedingly well for themselves, there was a prominent gap between the two segments. Hence, the KTM 250 Duke, which was only offered overseas at first, was launched in India to plug this gap. It’s the perfect blend of the 200 Duke and the 390 Duke as it borrows its engine and speedometer from the former and its overall design cues from the latter. That said, KTM has fiddled with the engine to help it produce more power. Its 248.8cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine produces 29.9PS at 9,000rpm and 24Nm at 7,500rpm, and comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. Furthermore, the KTM 250 Duke is expected to be launched with dual-channel ABS with a premium of around 10,000 to 13,000 over the non-ABS model.

Bajaj Dominar 400

5 Most Powerful Bikes Between Rs 1 Lakh And 2 Lakh

Launched as the CS 400 at the Indian Auto Expo back in 2014, the bike created waves in the motorcycle industry. Moreover, Bajaj managed to get the bike into production with minimal changes and at an affordable price. With equipment like LED lighting at both ends, a slipper clutch, a twin-spar perimeter frame and an eager motor, the Dominar 400 makes for one heck of a deal. It’s also the most powerful bike in this price range, with a 373.3, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor good for 35PS at 8,000rpm and 35Nm at 6,500rpm. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox aided by a slipper clutch that negates wheels hops during hard downshifts. While it isn’t hair-raisingly quick, the bike can easily cruise at 120kmph without breaking a sweat and still has enough power for quick overtakes.
