US Vice President, Afghan CEO discuss Afghanistan's political situation

Washington D.C. [United States], November 18 (ANI): United States Vice President Mike Pence met Afghanistan Chief Executive Dr Abdullah Abdullah at the White House on Friday.

The two discussed the political environment in Afghanistan.

Pence highlighted Abdullah's invaluable role and partnership with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani during the meeting.

They also focused on President Donald Trump's South Asia strategy and its beneficial impact on the security situation in Afghanistan.

He commended the Afghan security forces for their bravery and sacrifices in fighting the insurgency and international terrorists, such as ISIS and al-Qaida.

The Vice President stressed the need for Kabul's continued engagement and progress on necessary reforms, political inclusion, and preparations for forthcoming elections, all of which are critical to providing greater stability and opportunities for Afghanistan.

The two leaders reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the United States and Afghanistan. (ANI)
