US to provide 'great support' to Iranians at 'appropriate time'

Washington DC [USA], Jan 3 (ANI): Expressing 'respect for the people of Iran,' President Donald Trump stated the United States would provide great support to them 'at the appropriate time.'

"Such respect for the people of Iran as they try to take back their corrupt government. You will see great support from the United States at the appropriate time!" the president, penned down, in a Twitter post.

Earlier, on Tuesday, Trump dubbed the Iranian regime as "brutal" and "corrupt" and also purported that the money given to Iran by Barack Obama when he was the american president "went into terrorism and into their 'pockets."

"The people of Iran are finally acting against the brutal and corrupt Iranian regime. All of the money that President Obama so foolishly gave them went into terrorism and into their "pockets,"" Trump wrote on a micro-blogging site.

Iran is still witnessing a wave of demonstrations, being held in many cities across the country as people took to raising anti-government slogans, over alleged corruption and rising prices that have plagued the people of the country.

Trump and other administration officials, including US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, have voiced support for peaceful protestors demonstrating against the Iranian government, reported the Hill.

At least 20 individuals have died since the protests began last week.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has wished Iranian people "success in their noble quest for freedom."

On Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the people of Iran were free to protest peacefully, but rejected protesting by violence.

The authorities have also blocked two popular social media apps - Telegram and Instagram - as a security measure. (ANI)
