US urges Palestinians, Israelis to end violence
Earlier, the US
government on Monday urged the Palestinians and the Israelis to end
violence as the ongoing conflicts between Israel and militants in Gaza
entered its fourth day.

At a regular briefing, State Department spokesman Mark Toner said that the
US wants to see an end of violence, urging both sides to "make every
effort to restore calm", although he reiterated that Israel has the right
to self-defence, Xinhua reported.

Fighting between Israel and Gaza militants entered the fourth day on
Monday, as 25 Palestinians have been killed and over 70 injured so far in
Israeli airstrikes.
