Islamabbad [Pakistan], Semtember 30 (ANI): Pakistan's National Security Committee (NSC), chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, has expressed serious concern over repeated Indian shelling and firing along the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in killings of innocent civilians.

Participants of the high-level huddle, which included services chiefs, finance and federal minsters, "resolved to keep the country's defence impregnable against all forms of external aggression,"' the Express Tribune reports.

The meeting also condemned human rights violations in held Kashmir, and use of excessive force against unarmed civilians, the Express Trbune adds/

In 2017 to date, Indian forces have carried out more than 872 ceasefire violations along the LoC and the WB, resulting in the killing of 40 innocent civilians and injuries to 148, as compared to 382 ceasefire violations in 2016..

The NSC was informed that PM Abbasi, who recently attended the 72nd UNGA session in New York, had handed over a dossier, documenting systematic violations in the occupied territory, to the UN secretary general. He also stressed the need for appointing a special envoy on Kashmir. (ANI)
