No war on Korean Peninsula: South Korea's Moon

Seoul [South Korea], August 17 (ANI):South Korean President Moon Jae-in has said there "will be no war on the Korean Peninsula ever again" and added that the United States will not take unilateral action against North Korea.

President Moon assured that his government "will block war by all means" and said that only South Korea could give consent to initiate any conflict with the North.

"US President Donald Trump had assured South Korea he would consult with them before making any military decisions on North Korea,"Moon, who took office in May,said during a news conference on Thursday to mark the first 100 days of his presidency.

"Against North Korea, even with extreme pressure, it has to be solved peacefully and our opinion and US opinion about this matter is not different," CNN quoted Moon, as saying.

The South Korean leader has warned that Pyongyang completing an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM)and weaponizing it with miniaturized nuclear weapon is "nearing" a red line.

"If North Korea provokes again, it will face with much harsher sanction and won't stand it in the end. I want to warn North Korea to do no more dangerous gambling," added Moon.

Meanwhile, Kim Jong Un has thrown the gauntlet to Donald Trump, saying that North Korea will wait a little before opting to fire missiles towards the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam to see what see what the "foolish Yankees" do next.

US Secretary of Defense James Mattis warned that if North Korea fired on US territory it would be "game on.""You don't shoot at people in this world unless you want to bear the consequences," Mattis said in Pentagon.(ANI)
