Leaked paper reveals Cambridge Analytica's role in US presidential elections

Washington DC [USA], Mar 23 (ANI): A blueprint revealing the role of the US-based analytics firm Cambridge Analytica in the US presidential elections has been leaked.

As per a report published by The Guardian, Cambridge Analytica helped US President Donald Trump to influence the voters in his favour via social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google and Snapchat.

A 27-page document was presented by the CA officials who worked closely upon the Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.

Further, a former employee of the analysis firm said the document details the techniques used by the Trump campaign to micro-target US voters with carefully tailored messages about the Republican nominee across digital channels.

During the paper presentation, it was shown how intensive survey research, data modelling and performance-optimizing algorithms were used to target 10,000 different ads to different audiences in the months leading up to the election.

These ads were viewed billions of times, according to the presentation.

The firm used Facebook data of various users to determine the effectiveness of campaigns designed for Trump and further gave constant feedback about the levels of engagement on platforms including Twitter and Snapchat.

As per another CA employee, various previous employees of the firm demanded them to reveal their plan behind Trump's victory that led them to sign a non-disclosure agreement and hand over the details.

The US-based online users were shown tailor-made videos on online video streaming website YouTube depicting high profile celebrities supporting Trump to help influence their votes.

The results of the 2016 US presidential elections was earlier also claimed to be influenced by the third party.

In January, the United States intelligence community said that the Russian government was engaged in electoral interference during the 2016 US presidential elections.

Recently, Cambridge Analytica had come under fire for breaching private information of more than 50 million Facebook users. The investigation, in this case, is still underway.(ANI)
