Bangladesh police arrests 3 'Neo JMB' militants

Dhaka [Bangladesh], Aug 22 (ANI): Three operatives of "Sarwar-Tamim" group of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were arrested by Bangladesh Police on Tuesday from two upazilas of Narayanganj in Bangladesh.

The three suspects were Abdur Rahman alias Sufian alias Rubel, 27, Imam Hossain alias Rashed alias Abu Umama Al-Bahiri, 26, and Rayhan Ahmed alias Nasir, 30, reports the Daily Star.

A team of RAB-11 arrested the three suspected militants from Rupganj and Bandar upazilas.

Rapid Action Battalion or RAB is an elite anti-crime and anti-terrorism unit of the Bangladesh Police.

Lt Col Kamrul Hasan, commanding officer (CO) of RAB-11 said that the arrested suspects belonged to the Neo JMB's Sarwar-Tamim group and were planning a mass scale terrorist attack.

He further said that Abdur Rahman and Imam Hossain stand accused in two cases each filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The RAB also seized foreign-made pistol, some sharp weapons and books inciting religious hatred from their possession. (ANI)
