Afghan Interior Minister, spy chief meet Pakistani counterparts

Islamabad [Pakistan]: Feb. 1 (ANI): An Afghan delegation on Wednesday met Pakistani government officials in Pakistan and shared information regarding the alleged involvement of Pakistan-based elements in recent attacks in Afghanistan.

The yesterday's meeting comes hours after U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan urged Afghanistan to initiate talks with Pakistan.

In the meeting, the delegation, comprising Afghan Interior Minister Wais Ahmad Barmak and head of intelligence agency National Directorate of Security Masoom Stanikzai, handed over the evidence to their Pakistani counterparts.

After attacks on Kabul's Intercontinental Hotel, an NGO's office in Jalalabad and suicide car bombing, wherein over 100 people have died, has increased tensions between the two countries.

The attacks led Afghanistan to accuse Pakistan of being involved in the terrorist attacks.

In response, Pakistani authorities outrightly dismissed the charges and called for "a credible investigation" into the attacks.

The two-member delegation is also scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and military officials.

Afghanistan's ambassador to Pakistan Omar Zakhilwal, according to Voice of America, has confirmed that Barmak and Stanikzai would hold talks with Pakistani PM and Inter Service Intelligence agency's leadership. (ANI)
