SP candidate ahead by 1400 votes in Phulpur in first round of counting. Counting of votes for bypolls to the Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh's Phulpur and Gorakhpur, and Bihar's Araria is underway amid tight security. The contest on these three Parliamentary constituencies of two states is considered as a litmus test for the BJP-led NDA.
