"Vote in large numbers, elect a new PM," Akhilesh Yadav takes a dig at Modi's tweet spree on LS polls

New Delhi: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Chief Akhilesh Yadav took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s latest ‘tweet storm’ in which he tagged almost 100 celebrated personalities of India including opposition leaders, urging them to encourage the citizens to cast their votes in Lok Sabha elections 2019. Taking a jibe at PM Modi’s appeal to the grand alliance leaders to encourage voters for a high turnout in elections, Akhilesh Yadav said “I also appeal people to cast votes in maximum numbers and elect a new Prime Minister”. “I am glad that PM Modi is appealing the Mahagathbandhan for a Maha Parivartan (grand change). I also request every citizen to go out and cast votes in maximum numbers and elect a new Prime Minister," Akhilesh tweeted in Hindi, responding to the tweet by PM Modi in which he was tagged. In a series of tweets, PM Modi tagged influential names from every field including politics, sports, entertainment, business, spirituality, and journalism. He urged them to encourage voters to encourage increased voter participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. In the first tweet of the series, PM Modi tagged opposition leaders of grand alliance including Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Sharad Pawar, Mayawati, Tejashwi Yadav and M K Stalin. He also tagged opposition leaders like Naveen Patnaik, HD Kumaraswamy, N Chandrababu Naidu and Jagan Mohan Reddy. He also tagged former President Pranab Mukherjee in his tweet and urged him to appeal to the people to enrich the festival of democracy by participating in large numbers.
