New Delhi: Ajinkya Rahane is not only earning praise for scoring a ton in this Test series versus South Africa but also for his demonstration of impeccable sportsmanship to the game of cricket.

Rahane, who was batting strong on Thursday, swept a loose ball by Dane Piedt that hit Temba Bavuma at forward short leg. The ball hit Temba’s hand hard causing him instant pain.

Rahane immediately went to Bavuma to check whether he is alright. He shook hands with the South African fielder and also gave him a light pat.

The Mumbai lad is known to be a cool customer on the field and this gesture has truly depicted how the gentleman’s game is to be played in the right spirit.

Earlier, skipper Virat Kohli also playing a similar shot hit Bavuma at forward short leg and the ball then popped up in the air. Wicketkeeper Dane Vilas was quick to react as he dived forward and came up with an admirable catch. (Video Courtesy: BCCI)
