A day after being sarcastic towards Sachin Tendulkar, Saeed Ajmal insisted
that he had nothing but the highest regard for The Master.
"I meant it when I said 'Sir Sachin' yesterday (Tuesday)... I brought up
his name because some TV channels in India, I'm told, had done the same,"
Ajmal maintained during a chat with The Telegraph.
He was referring to the reports which spoke of the Indian cricketers'
misgivings over his action.
"I've worked hard for years to bowl the way I do... Meri bahut mehnat rahi
hai... I haven't worked hard to do something illegal... Please appreciate
that," Ajmal added.
Why did he not have a word with Sachin?
Ajmal replied: "I felt it could be awkward... I know he was in the hotel
till this morning, but maine unko koi call nahin kiya."
Looking ahead, to Thursday's Asia Cup final against Bangladesh, Ajmal
said: "They've been playing very well... The toss may become crucial...
Dekhiye kya hota hai, but we're confident."
