Rio Olympics: Madhya Pradesh government announces reward for PV Sindhu silver medal

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government on Friday announced a reward of Rs 50 lakh to ace shuttler and Olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu, an official said. Congratulating Sindhu for bagging the Silver medal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a reward of Rs 50 lakh to her for the achievement, a senior official of the Public Relation department said. The 21-year-old from Hyderabad crumbled under the relentless pressure created by world no-1 Carolina Marin of Spain to lose 21-19, 12-21, 15-21 in a pulsating final that lasted for an hour and 23 minutes. Sindhu, the two-time World championship bronze medallist, became the first Indian woman player to clinch a Silver in the Olympics and fifth woman player from India to win a medal in Olympics.
