Rhodes likely to become Bangladesh's fielding consultant

Johannesburg [South Africa], July 17(ANI):The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in talks with South African legend Jonty Rhodes for a short-term fielding consultant role, confirmed the board's president Nazmul Hassan Papon.

Rhodes, who is currently serving as the fielding coach of IPL franchise Mumbai Indians, might take up the role of a fielding consultant to the team for a span of less than a month.

Although the BCB has said that nothing has been finalised yet, but a meeting is being scheduled between Rhodes' agent and the BCB.

"Jonty is very busy. He could not work for a long time. Our talks with him are going on. If he agrees to work with us, he will then come here for a short term," Sport24 quoted BCB director and Cricket Operations Committee chairperson Akram Khan as saying.

He will work and share his experience with our national players besides high performance and our others teams also," he added.

The decision to hire Rhodes comes after Bangladesh had a disastrous tour of New Zealand where they lost all the eight matches (3 ODIs, 3 T20Is and 2 Tests). Bangladesh will be hosting a two-match Test series against Australia in September.(ANI)
