Rabada spearheads Proteas' biggest Test win

Bloemfontein [South Africa], Oct. 8 (ANI): Right-arm pacer Kagiso Rabada picked up a well deserved five-wicket haul as South Africa demolished Bangladesh by an innings and 254 runs on Day Three of the second and final Test at Mangaung Oval on Sunday.

Rabada took five for 30 as Bangladesh were bowled out for 172 in addition to their first innings' score of 147 in reply to Proteas' 573-4 declared.

The 22-year-old also passed tally of 100 Test wickets during the course of his third 10-wicket haul.

Mahmudullah was the top scorer for Bangladesh in their second innings with 43.

"A very clinical performance by the boys, I'm happy the boys stepped up. We wanted to get big scores and big hundreds and the boys came to the party. A brilliant performance by the bowlers who got us those wickets, and credit to the fielding and brilliant catches taken," said South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis after the match.

"Rabada bowled well throughout the test and credit also goes to Olivier who gave his heart into his bowling top effort from him to come out fighting," he added.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim said, "The series didn't really go our way, it shows we have a lot to work on and we have to learn very quickly. Last time we were here about nine years ago we had three guys who are currently playing now."

"If we tour a lot here we will learn a lot. I'm really happy for Das who performed well for us, a lot of positives to take from his innings," he added.

Rabada, who had match figures of 10 for 63, was adjudged Man of the Match while Dean Algar was declared the Man of the Series. It was the biggest win for South Africa in their Test history, surpassing the innings and 229 run victory over Sri Lanka in 2000/01.

South Africa had won the first match with a 333-run victory at Potchefstroom.

The two teams will now play three ODIs and two T20Is. (ANI)
