Pak-WI to play bilateral T20I series for next five years

Johannesburg [South Africa], November 12 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) have signed a five-year contract to play a bilateral T20I series.

PCB chairman Najam Sethi on Saturday announced that the West Indies cricket team would visit Pakistan for a three-match T20 series every year for the next five years.

"Pakistan and West Indies cricket boards have signed an agreement to play a series of T20 matches each year, for the next five years, in Pakistan and in the US, subject to the availability of dates and venues," the Dawn quoted Sethi, as saying.

Sethi further informed that the Caribbean team would visit Pakistan in March for the first series.

Earlier, the tour, which was due to take place in November, was postponed due to adverse weather conditions in Lahore.

"The WICB has confirmed that the full national team will visit Pakistan in 2018 and participate in three T20I matches on March 29, 31 and April 1, respectively," said Sethi.

Sethi added that the series in Pakistan would be a bilateral series.

The two teams will then go to America for a trilateral affair which will include, Pakistan, West Indies and a third country, which has not been named yet.

Sethi added, "This is an independent bilateral arrangement, independent of the FTPs [Future Tour Programmes] that would be arranged with the International Cricket Council (ICC) in December/January."

He also notified that the PCB would host the series to be held in Pakistan, whereas matches in the US would be a joint venture. (ANI)
