Calcutta: Sourav Ganguly believes the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group-owned Pune franchise will bid for Mahendra Singh Dhoni when the new franchises take part in a player draft on December 15. Pune will get the chance to pick the first player, after emerging the lowest bidder.
"I've no idea on which players they will pick. Goenka knows the game... But Dhoni will obviously be a huge pick. You will have him as captain of the side... There's a strong possibility that Goenka might go for Dhoni," Sourav told a TV channel on Tuesday.
"But there are other good players form Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals who will also be up for grabs. Both teams had equally good players.
"There's Suresh Raina, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Bravo... From Royals you will also have Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith, James Faulkner... There are lot of good players to choose from."
