KOLKATA

FULL SCORECARD

Pandya's dismissal changed the game as England sneaked back into the game with regular wickets. With 16 needed off 6 balls, Jadhav clubbed a six and a four off the first two balls to thrill the crowd but Woakes held his nerve brilliantly to close out the game. Ball was the pick of the bowlers while Stokes also did well to pick crucial wickets. Woakes was expensive but eventually bowled the vital final over well to see his side through. Another thrilling game and this time England found themselves on the right side of the result to notch up their first International win on their tour of India. Chasing a challenging 322 to win, India's openers failed once again and Kohli too couldn't convert a start after being dropped once. Yuvraj and Dhoni too failed to kick on after starts, leaving India in a dicey situation. However, Jadhav rose to the occasion and with Pandya, stitched a fantastic century stand to bring the hosts back in the game. Brilliant last over Chris Woakes, England win by 5 runs to salvage pride.
Chris Woakes to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, NO, HE CANNOT! Full and wide outside off, Kumar cannot put bat on ball and England players have a sense of relief on their faces. Woakes pumps his fists in delight and that's a consolation victory for the tourists. ENGLAND WIN BY 5 RUNS.
6 needed from 1. Can Kumar do a Miandad?
Chris Woakes to Kedar Jadhav, OUT! JADHAV HOLES OUT! There's a massive silence at the Eden right now. You can hear a pin drop now. Slower and fuller outside off, Jadhav goes for the loft over cover but doesn't get the distance on the stroke. Finds Billings near the ropes to perfection. Terrific innings comes to an end but he will be gutted at not finishing off things.
OUT! Kedar Jadhav goes and with that India's last hopes also. OUT! Poor shot from Ashwin, throws his wicket away Chris Woakes to Ravindra Jadeja, OUT! JADEJA DEPARTS! Probably a shot too many from him in the over. Back of a length ball and he goes for the pull over mid-wicket. Finds Bairstow at deep mid-wicket to perfection. It can be argued that he could have worked it around after getting two boundaries in the over. England continue to chip away at the wickets. OUT! Jadeja pulls it straight to deep mid wicket. India need 31 off 20 balls Ben Stokes to Hardik Pandya, OUT! BOWLED 'EM! Just the break England would have wanted. This is a horror stroke from Pandya though. Length ball on middle, he looks to play a wild hoick across the line but misses it completely to see his stumps disturbed. The 104-run stand is broken and England are now back in this. OUT! Stokes cleans up Pandya for 56. This was on the cards. But a brilliant innings by the young all-rounder. Maiden ODI half century for Hardik Pandya and he gets there with a stunning hook shot India: 264/5  Kedar Jadhav 62 (54), Hardik Pandya 46 (37)  Overs: 44 That's fifty for Kedar Jadhav. What an innings under pressure by the little man. India: 229/5  Kedar Jadhav 45 (43), Hardik Pandya 30 (24)  Overs: 40 Jake Ball to MS Dhoni, OUT! HUGE BLOW! Back of a length outside off, Dhoni goes for the booming drive on the up but only manages a thick edge through to Buttler who takes another sharp catch. Almost similar to the Kohli dismissal this and India have now lost half their side. 149 needed from 110 balls. India: 153/4 MS Dhoni 15 (26), Kedar Jadhav 10 (11) Overs: 29 Liam Plunkett to Yuvraj Singh, OUT! YUVRAJ DEPARTS! Found the man in the deep to perfection. Fuller on middle and leg, he just goes across and whips it over mid-wicket. Struck it really well but got the placement wrong as the distance wasn't there on the shot. Billings near the ropes hardly had to budge and he takes the catch with ease. India in a bit of trouble now. OUT! Yuvraj Singh is hold out at mid wicket for 45 India: 132/3 Yuvraj Singh 45 (55), MS Dhoni 5 (15) Overs: 25 Ben Stokes to Virat Kohli, OUT! MASSIVE WICKET! Somehow Kohli didn't look fluent after that dropped chance and he has to go. Back of a length ball wider outside off, he chases it and gets an edge that is pouched well by Buttler behind the stumps. The ball was really traveling after the edge and it was a sharp catch. So, the dropped catch doesn't cost England much. India have been jolted. OUT! Ben Stokes gets the huge wicket of Virat Kohli for 55, India lose their third. India 102/3 That's 50 for Kohli, his 39th in ODI cricket. India 92/2 India: 67/2 Virat Kohli 41 (43), Yuvraj Singh 8 (18) Overs: 13 Liam Plunkett to Virat Kohli, DROPPED BY BALL! Has he dropped the match? Too early to say but just cannot put down Kohli in a run chase especially. Short ball around off, Virat goes for the pull but the ball climbs on him. Gets a top edge to fine leg where Ball puts down a simple chance after having got to the ball. Brace added. The crowd roar in delight. India: 43/2 Virat Kohli 22 (23), Yuvraj Singh 3 (8) Overs: 8 Jake Ball to Lokesh Rahul, OUT! BALL STRIKES! Rahul's hyperactive knock comes to an end. He never looked settled and has to go. Short ball around off, he shuffles across and swivels for a mighty pull but gets a big top edge on it. The ball goes high in the air and Bairstow goes a few yards to his left to take the skier. India's openers have failed one more time. OUT! Jake Ball strikes in his first over. India now lose both their openers cheaply, Rahul goes back for 11. India: 32/1 Lokesh Rahul 11 (9), Virat Kohli 15 (15) Overs: 5 David Willey to Ajinkya Rahane, OUT! CLEANED HIM UP! Lovely inswinging yorker around off, finally Willey gets his line and reaps the reward instantly. Rahane plays all around the delivery and is late to get his bat down. The ball crashes into the stumps and that's the early wicket England wanted. Rahane fails on his comeback and India's opening woes continue. OUT! BOWLED. Not a great comeback by Rahane, departs for 1. India 13/1 India begin their chase, new opening pair of Rahane and Rahul make their way into the middle Jadeja and Pandya were the pick of the bowlers for India on a pitch that looked a touch two-paced. There was some movement with the new ball and also later on the innings with the odd ball gripping as well. It was still a good batting pitch to bat on and the England batsmen reveled on it. The target is definitely challenging but India will be confident after their win in Pune. Join us in a while for the chase. A good performance from England after being put into bat. England's top four all got starts with Roy and Bairstow getting fifties but once again no England player managed to make a really big knock. There was a lull towards back end but Stokes produced a cracking fifty and was supported by a fine cameo from Woakes as England surged past the 320-run mark. Great finish to the England innings. 321-8 in their 50 overs OUT! Woakes sacrifices himself for the senior partner. England lose their seventh ENGLAND: 263/6. Ben Stokes 29 (24), Chris Woakes 6 (5) Overs: 45 Jasprit Bumrah to Moeen Ali, OUT! GONE! The short ball does Ali again. Banged in midway down the track and it's well-directed. Ali goes for the pull and gets a top edge that flies high to backward point where Jadeja settles under the chance with ease. The England innings is losing steam in the death overs. OUT! Short ball does the trick again. Moeen Ali falls for 2. England 246/6 Hardik Pandya to Jonny Bairstow, OUT! PANDYA STRIKES! He is showing this knack of breaking partnerships and it's certainly valuable in shorter formats. Length ball and wider outside off, Bairstow makes room and slices it towards backward point where Jadeja takes a fine diving catch. Yet another England batsman wasting a start and failing to bat deep. These are vital strikes for India. OUT! Jonny Bairstow has to take the long walk back. Pandya is on a roll Hardik Pandya to Jos Buttler, OUT! Pandya has his man! Full outside off, Buttler drives it uppishly straight to Rahul at short extra cover. Another failure for Buttler! Pandya gets his rewards for bowling a superb tight spell! OUT! Pandya strikes again, Butttler the man dismissed for 11 off 15. ENGLAND: 203/3. Jonny Bairstow 41 (49), Jos Buttler 8 (10) Overs: 36 Hardik Pandya to Eoin Morgan, OUT! That's disappointing from the English skipper! Length delivery on the pads, Morgan looks to flick it on its way but fails to keep it down on the ground. It goes straight to Bumrah at short fine leg. He doesn't even have to move an inch and grabs it cleanly. Three dot balls built the pressure on the skipper. Pandya gets his first of the match! Jonny Bairstow survives They are checking for the no ball. Bairstow has been caught at third man. ENGLAND: 121/2. Jonny Bairstow 10(17), Eoin Morgan 5(14) Overs: 24 England Skipper walks in to replace Jason Roy. OUT! 3 ON 3 FOR JADEJA! Number of times that he has got Roy this series. Almost a replica of the dismissal in the previous ODI this. Flatter on middle, no room or length for the cut but Roy tries to create some by backing away. He misses and trust Jadeja to be accurate with his line as the ball crashes into the sticks. Once again Roy fails to kick on after getting a start. Jonny Bairstow is the new man in. OUT! GONE! Jadeja breaks the partnership. Billings would be disappointed with himself. Tried the reverse sweep to a loopy ball well outside off and got it off the toe end. Lobs it high to backward point where Bumrah takes a good catch with a timely leap. The partnership has been broken but this is a fine platform for England. ENGLAND: 97/0. Jason Roy 57(45), Sam Billings 35(57) Overs: 17 8th ODI fifty for Roy. ENGLAND: 43/0. Jason Roy 28(27), Sam Billings 14(33) Overs: 10 ENGLAND: 33/0. Jason Roy 22(21), Sam Billings 10(21) Overs: 7 ENGLAND: 1/0. Jason Roy 0(6), Sam Billings 0(0) Overs: 1 The national anthems have been done and dusted. The English openers, JASON ROY and SAM BILLINGS have now walked in the middle. BHUVNESHWAR KUMAR to start the proceedings with the ball. Let's play... EOIN MORGAN is surprised at the grass on the pitch but feels that it is a good pitch. Accepts that their bowlers haven't quite been up to scratch and hopes that they can improve. Feels that England haven't played the perfect game yet and expects his team to put in a collective performance today. Reveals two changes with Hales ruled out of the tour and Root missing this game, both to injuries. SAM BILLINGS and JONNY BAIRSTOW come in. VIRAT KOHLI says that India will bowl. Feels that it is a good pitch and doesn't opine that it will change much as the game progresses. Stresses on the importance of maintaining the winning habit. Hopes that his side can be ruthless and finish the series on a high. Says that there has been dew albeit not so much but still states that it could be a factor. Reveals the one change - Shikhar Dhawan makes way for AJINKYA RAHANE.  Time for the toss. Kohli flips the coin in the air, heads is the call from Morgan and it's a tail. INDIA WIN THE TOSS AND OPT TO BOWL. Hello and welcome to our coverage of the final ODI of the series. It's been a run feast so far and today doesn't appear to be any different. There hasn't been much to choose between the two sides, just that India have just dealt with the pressure moments better. Kohli will want his side to affect a whitewash in his first ODI series as permanent captain. England will need to improve drastically in their bowling department to avoid embarrassment. The toss and other updates are coming up shortly. England need to find better bowlers and Morgan should show some aggressive captaincy by using his bowlers at the right time. Indian batsmen, however, have been ruthless as a unit and showed that a target of 350 is just a number especially when the ever-reliable Virat Kohli is on song. England have been winless in the disastrous tour so far, having been outplayed in the Test series prior to the ODIs. India would be aiming for a clean-sweep to dent England's confidence a bit more in their final ODI outing before the Champions Trophy in less than five months, here on Sunday
