KKR choke Delhi to 160 after flying start

KKR choke Delhi to 160 after flying startPhoto: BCCI New Delhi: Riding on a sparkling half century by Sanju Samson and supporting act by Shreyas Iyer, Delhi Daredevils posted 160 for 6 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. But it will be the Knight Riders who will go into break as the happier lot having restricted Delhi after they got off to flier. Put into bat, Delhi started in an ideal fashion with their new opening pair of Sanju Samson and Karun Nair going all guns blazing. The strong KKR bowling attack, comprising of an in-form Umesh Yadav and a fresh Coulter-Nile got some flack form the young Indians. Gambhir fell back to his go to man Sunil Narine after Delhi raced away to 41 for no loss at the end of 4 overs. Narine, immediately delivered the goods by trapping Karun Nair (15) leg before. Shreyas Iyer made his way into the middle but the Knight Riders had the breaks on. Samson played some breathtaking shots in between but the runs had started to dry out. Umesh Yadav got the big wicket of Samson after he had played a commendable innings of 60 off 38 balls. The Delhi innings nose dived after Samson’s departure and the powerful middle order of comprising of Anderson and Morris could not fire in front of a disciplined KKR bowling unit. Coulter-Nile got a double break in the 16th over by trapping both Pant (6) and Iyer (47) leg before wicket. Delhi managed only 1 boundary in the last 4 overs and kept losing wickets in regular intervals. Nathan Coulter-Nile again was the most impressive. He picked up 2 wickets for 34 runs in his full quota after coming back into side. The spin duo of Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav did a fine job to tie down the Delhi middle order. Narine picked up 1 wicket for 25 runs and Chinaman Kuldeep only gave away 27 runs in his 4 overs.
