Kevin Pietersen and James Faulkner engage in Twitter banter after BBL loss

New Delhi: The Big Bash League (BBL) side Melbourne Stars teammates Kevin Pietersen and James Faulkner recently got into a friendly banter after their side lost the opening match against Adelaide Strikers.

The Stars went down to the Strikers by 19 runs at the Adelaide Oval, failing to chase down the 188-run target set by the hosts set up by a century stand between veteran Brad Hodge and man of the match Alex Ross.

Pietersen scored 22 from 17 balls while Faulkner could only manage 10 off 10 against a disciplined Strikers bowling attack.

On the flight back to Melbourne, Faulkner tweeted a photo of his English teammate sitting in an exit row seat, suggesting his efforts with the bat last night didn't require the extra leg room.

Pietersen, not one take anything lying down, pointed out that it was Faulkner’s run-a-ball effort that cost them the match as he did not live up to his nickname as 'The Finisher' for his tremendous ability to steer Australia home to victory in one-day international run chases.

But it was Faulkner who had the last laugh, pointing at Pietersen's international aspirations with a clever use of hashtag.
