Jo'burg Test: Bumrah's five-wicket haul restricts Proteas to 194
Johannesburg [South Africa], January 25 (ANI): Jasprit Bumrah's maiden five-wicket haul in Tests helped India in restricting the South African team to 194 on Day 2 of the third Test in Johannesburg.
Skipper Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock got out in quick succession, with Jasprit Bumrah scalping both the wickets.
The hosts were helped by a fighting 61 from Hashim Amla. Bumrah provided the much-needed breakthrough of Amla, who departed for 61, flicking one straight to Hardik Pandya at midwicket.
The hosts were helped by crucial knocks from Kagiso Rabada (30) and Vernon Philander (35).
Morne Morkel and Andile Phehlukwayo took their team past India's total to give a lead to South Africa. Bumrah took twice in one over to bowl out South Africa for 194, with a lead of 7 runs. He took five wickets by giving just 54 runs in his spell of 19 overs.
Meanwhile, at the start of their second innings, India's Parthiv experiment ended cheaply as the batsman via a stupendous forward-diving catch by Aiden Markram, who ran forward from the slips to lunge and catch a bat-pad off Parthiv (16).
At the time of filing this report, India lost the wicket of Parthiv Patel at the score of 32. (ANI)
