Calcutta: The Barabati Stadium in Cuttack will host the opening match of the India-Sri Lanka ODI series on November 2, while Eden Gardens and the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi will stage the fourth and fifth one-dayers on November 13 and 16, respectively, according to a BCCI release on Satuday.
The ODI series will be preceded by a practice tie where the visitors will take on India A at the Brabourne, in Mumbai, on October 30.
Cuttack was scheduled to be the venue for the one-off T20 International against the West Indies before the latter boycotted the remainder of their tour post the fourth ODI at Dharamsala, owing to a payment related dispute with the WICB.
The Commissionerate of Police, Bhubaneswar, have chalked out a foolproof safety plan for the players and spectators before the first one-dayer.
“The police will take control of the stadium and hotels two days before the first ODI in Cuttack on November 2,” police commissioner RP Sharma said.
Meanwhile, the Cricket Association of Bengal would certainly feel relieved as it can finally celebrate Eden’s 150 years with an international match. Eden was supposed to stage the fifth and final ODI of the series versus West Indies, but the Dwayne Bravos’s decision to pull out had left the CAB officials red-faced.
