New Delhi: Team India under the leadership of skipper Virat Kohli marched their way to a historic Test series win over South Africa by completing a 3-0 sweep at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi on Monday. South Africa's resilience was brought to an inevitable end on Day 5 of the fourth Test match as Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin picked wickets at periodic intervals to defeat the tourists by a massive 337 runs. Social media erupted in celebrations as Virat Kohli was handed the trophy after the well-deserved victory.

Following are the emotionally charged Twitter reactions after India won the match and the series:

An elated Amitabh Bachchan could not hide his emotions. "Dho daala!!" was what the legendary superstar, also an avid cricket fan, had to say. Just take a look at his tweets!

Harsha Bhogle wrote: "India can be mighty proud of what they have achieved here. 3-0 against the best test team and the best travellers is special."

To emphasise the magnitude of the victory, Bhogle, reiterated, saying that "Make no mistake, this is a serious win. South Africa may not be the team they were but to win this convincingly is special for a young side"

Ex-India cricketer VVS Laxman's tweet says it all! Immediately after India's victory, Laxman wrote: "Congrats Ind on a remarkable win.Gr8 team effort.Loved the way bowlers fought till the end.No2 in world cricket hopefully soon will be no1"

Among the celebrations, it should not be forgotten that while Indian bowling spearhead R Ashwin was playing beautifully for his team, his parents went untraceable in flood-hit Chennai for almost 24 hours. Now, that's real character!

Even as India celebrate a commanding victory over South Africa, winning wasn't easy. First Hashim Amla blocked everything he could for over 200 deliveries and then AB de Villiers was rock solid and refused to get deceived by whatever the Indian bowlers had for him. Take a bow, AB!

VVS Laxman, too, lauded de Villiers' grand effort. Remember, it wasn't a stereotypical explosive innings from him, but a determined stay at the crease, refusing the Indians victory for as long as he could.

Special mention for Umesh Yadav, for his hostile fast bowling that kept the South African batsmen on their toes.

After receiving a significant amount of flak for the low-scoring Test matches earlier in the series, more so because of the viciously turning pitches, India proved their mettle on a balanced Kotla track as is evident form the twin centuries by Ajinkya Rahane in the fourth Test.

In sport, whether one wins or loses, sport is ultimately the winner. Southy Africa have proved that by being popular in India. Who can forget the loud cheer by Indian fans every time AB de Villiers walked in to bat?
