New Delhi: The Indian batting again witnessed a dramatic collapse as Hazlewood and Starc ran through with the second new ball to bowl out India for 274 on Day 4 of the second India-Australia Test at Bengaluru.
Resuming the day at 213 for 4 India lost six wickets for 36 runs as they went from 238 or 4 to 274 all-out but more importantly they have a lead of 187.
Hazlwood returned with figures of six for 67. It was Starc who started the collapse by picking up a well set Rahane with a late in swing delivery. Karun Nair was castled off the first ball as Starc sent his middle stump for a walk.
The telling blow was given by Hazlewood when he removed Pujara for 92 with a ball that took from good length.
The last pair of Saha and Ishant showed some resilience before Ishant finally got out to O'Keefe.
Australia need 188 runs to go 2-0 up in the four-match series.
However, it won’t be easy as the pitch has showed signs of deterioration. The fast bowlers will be as much important for India as the spinners on a pitch which has a lot of variable bounce.
