Display humility not arrogance, Mr Samuels

New Delhi: The obvious stumbles from the field against England were evident on Marlon Samuels' not-so-welcome demeanour during the post victory presser. Samuels hit a magnificent 85 not out off 66 balls with nine boundaries and two huge sixes to lead West Indies to their second World T20 title. The press which had gathered was  though not very pleased to see Samuels "bare his soles" to the reporters. With the victory and his individual performance running so high in his head, Samuels decided to continue exhibiting his boots to journalists and cameras next to the table. He was bent on hurling swipes at Shane Warne and others who revelled at taking a dig at the West Indies team. It was rude on the part of Samuels, who was curt in answering the questions but nobody expected through his shoes. That’s disrespectful and insult to what the gentleman’s game is known for. He was also fined 30 per cent of his match fee for using abusive language directed at Ben Stokes at Eden Gardens yesterday. Chris Gayle curtailed his flamboyant attitude in this mega event. He faced severe flak some months ago for making a female TV presenter ‘uncomfortable’ during a chat. As a senior cricketer in the team, Samuels, needs to realise how to tone down the rush of emotions after achieving success and display humility and not get carried away with such superciliousness.
