I was unnecessarily made a Villain, says Sandeep Patil

New Delhi: Former chief selector Sandeep Patil believes he was unnecessarily made a villain in the strike rate controversy and selection process. But he believes the Saurashtra man has once again proved himself today with his ability to bat under pressure.

Patil had revealed coach Anil Kumble and Skipper Virat Kohli were disappointed with the right handed batsman’s performances and the duo had advised Pujara to Accelerate his strike rate while batting.

“The change Pujara has shown in his game is exceptional and his performances in last three innings have benefitted the team at every step, said Sandeep Patil on ABP News.

Pujara was once again to the rescue after top order failed miserably to add runs on the board. Pujara’s 87 off 219 balls with a strike rate of 39.29-helped India put on decent score on the board. Pujara has now scored fifties in his last 3 innings, giving India an edge over opponents.

Virat Kohli admitted to have told Pujara to shift gears after India clinched victory over New Zealand in the first Test at Green park in Kanpur.

Earlier, Anurag Thakur, Chairman of BCCI, had criticized Sandeep patil for commenting on selection procedure.
