BCCI's SGM to meet on July 26

New Delhi [India], July 12 (ANI): Board of Cricket Control for India (BCCI) acting president C.K. Khanna has called for a Special General Meeting (SGM) on July 26.

The meeting was called hours after the Committee of Administrators (CoA) submitted its fourth report to the Supreme Court expressing difficulty in building consensus among the state boards to implement the Lodha Panel recommendations.

In the June 26 SGM meeting, the BCCI informed that a seven-member committee was formed to see how the Supreme Court appointed-Lodha Panel recommendations are implemented by the board in the best possible and swiftest manner.

The committee will be headed by Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Rajeev Shukla, with BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary as its convenor.

The other members of the committee are Sourav Ganguly, T.C. Mathew, Naba Bhattacharjee, Jay Shah and Anirudh Chaudhary.

"In terms of the decision taken in the Special General Meeting (SGM) held at the Cricket Centre, Mumbai on June 26 with regard to the issues relating to the implementation of the judgment of the Supreme Court dated July 18, 2016, the undersigned is pleased to announce the following seven-member committee to identify the few critical points in respect of the said judgement for the general body of the BCCI to consider before its submission to the Supreme Court," said the BCCI in a release.

"In view of the fact that the next date of hearing in the matter is fixed for July 14, 2017, the committee is requested to fix an early date for its meeting in order to ensure that the above task is undertaken with utmost urgency and its written report circulated by July 10, 2017 so that the same may be considered by the general body and finalised prior to the above hearing," the release added.

The release further said that BCCI acting president C.K. Khanna will be apprised on a regular basis on the deliberations of the committee and the report shall finally be submitted to him to present it to the general body.

It was in this meeting, the CoA flagged various issues including accusing former office bearers N. Srinivasan and Niranjan Shah of having vested interests and disrupting the meeting in order to stall the reforms.

"The SGM on June 26 was attended by various persons who are disqualified from being office bearers of BCCI and/or their respective state/member associations including N. Srinivasan (represented TNCA) and Niranjan Shah (Saurashtra CA) amongst others. Such disqualified persons have a vested interest in stalling implementation of judgement because if the judgement is implemented, such disqualified person will have to relinquish control over their respective state associations." it added.
