Born and brought up as Pradeep Kumar, 25 year- old computer applications graduate underwent sex change surgery to get the new face of Prithika.
Prithika left Salem and her parents five year ago and came to Chennai to pursue her goals. She filed a series of petitions as state police recruitment board rejected her application saying that her name didn't tally with the original certificates. The board even doesn't has any quotas for the transgenders.
Prithika Yashini's father is an auto-rikshaw driver and her mother is a tailor. Her parents didn't support her choice, hence she left the home.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana believes that before the next recruitment process, Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board would incorporate the third gender category
