Helicopter accident that collapsed his career: Tragic tale of Inder Kumar

"It is difficult for me to get a house on rent now. My stuff is lying in a warehouse and we are living at a friend’s place. Only one person stood by us, Dolly Bindra, other than her, my wife and I didn’t receive a single phone call from anyone in the film industry".

NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Inder Kumar's death once again resurfaced the misery of popular actors who gradually sink into oblivion. Dearth of work and financial crunch continue to hound such artistes who fail to survive in limelight for long run. Inder's story was no different, the 44-year-old actor succumbed to cardiac arrest on 28 August.  Before getting inflicted with severe injuries, Inder was heading towards being one of the promising talents of the 90s. Movies such as 'Masoom', 'Khiladiyon Ki Khiladi' 'Tirchi Topiwale' 'Wanted' and 'Tumko Na Bhool Paenge' established him as a supporting actor. Though he mostly played second fiddle to the hero, his performance left an impact. It was during the shooting of Suniel Shetty starrer 'Maseeha' that his career entered a dark phase. While performing a stunt on his own for director Partho Ghosh's film, the actor fell from moving helicopter and broke his vertebrae. In an interview to the Times Of India, Inder said," I fell from a helicopter while shooting for the film Masiha and I was bed-ridden for the next three years. With a broken vertebrae, doctors in Mumbai said that my chances of getting back on my feet are slim." "I had to say no to a number of offers — roles that made stars out of new actors. But life must go on," he regrets. Another shocking turn came in his life when he was accused of sexually assaulting an aspiring actress though he maintained that it was consensual. He was behind bars for 45 days before being bailed out. While speaking about the allegation and its aftermath, he told mid day, "It is difficult for me to get a house on rent now. My stuff is lying in a warehouse and we are living at a friend’s place. Only one person stood by us, Dolly Bindra, other than her, my wife and I didn’t receive a single phone call from anyone in the film industry". He was shooting for his next film 'Phati Padi Hai Yaar' when he met death. Undoubtedly, he was a fighter.
