Has Akshara Haasan converted her religion? Here's the complete truth

NEW DELHI: Religion conversion has always been one of the heated subjects in India and the current political scenario has pushed forward the extremist ideology generating intolerance towards this freedom of choice. There has been few cases of conversion in Indian film industry and the latest one to join the bandwagon is Kamal Haasan's actress daughter Akshara Haasan.  The gorgeous lady who was last seen in 'Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laddoo Deewana' after her Bollywood debut 'Shamitabh' which released in 2015 has 'embraced' Buddhism. The actress who is currently busy promoting her upcoming movie 'Vivegam' which also marks her Tamil debut was questioned by her superstar father regarding her conversion on Twitter. Akshara encountered her father and replied in the sweetest way possible. "Hi. Akshu. Have you changed your religeon? Love you, even if you have. Love unlike religeon is unconditional. Enjoy life . Love- Your Bapu" tweeted Kamal Haasan to which Akshara replied, "Hi bapuji. No, still an atheist. Although i agree with budhism as it is a way of life and in an individuals way of life. Love from your daughter Akshu".

When Mumbai Mirror contacted her, the 25-year-old actress said, "I have not converted to Buddhism, I am still an atheist, but I have embraced Buddhism as a way of life. A friend of mine has been following it and my conversations with him along with my curious mind and my parents' open mindedness made me contemplate Buddhism. Gautam Buddha, himself, didn't want to be looked up to as God, he found nirvana by following the path, which he had created for himself. I too want to reach the peak by following my own path and living life on my own terms." Meanwhile, she will be next seen in 'Vivegam' which also has Ajith Kumar, Vivek Oberoi and Kajal Aggarwal.
