WATCH: Sourav Ganguly mobbed by unruly Pakistani fans outside stadium

New Delhi: As the world awaits the most iconic clash of cricket fandom, India and Pakistan are all geared up for the ICC Champions Trophy Finale. Turning their fate around, Pakistan cricket team have already emerged as the underdogs by defeating England in the Semi-finals at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. The competition didn’t start of on a victorious note for Pakistan when they were defeated by India comprehensively at Edgbaston by 124 runs on June 4. The curtains have been raised and the stage is set to witness the best face off cricket can offer after the Men in Blue graciously crushed Bangladesh in the semi-finals ofThursday. Soon after Ahmed-led Pakistan emerged victoriously, the fans took to the ground to celebrate the underdogs for shifting the gears and entering into the final. After the match, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly was seen leaving the venue in his car which was soon mobbed by the Pakistani fans. They started waving flags around his car. They placed the green flags on the bonnet and windshield of his car. The fans kept on celebrating the win and waving Pakistani flags around Ganguly’s car as if trying to give a message that Pakistan is going to lift the Champion’s trophy on Sunday.  The former India skipper without taking offence politely asked the fans to give him space to leave the premises. India was yet to play the Semi-final with Bangladesh but the cricket fans in both the neighbouring countries presumed an Indo-Pak face off post Pakistan’s win. This kind of behaviour though does not leave a good impression on the gentlemanly sport. After all it’s a game of sportsman ship and should be seen as a step forward in culminating peace between the two countries. Only then the world can expect cricket to emerge as the winner.
