VIRAL SACH: Pakistan journalist's lies on Kashmir issue exposed

New Delhi: Pakistan is at it again! This time its senior journalist Hamid Mir, who works for famous Pakistani Channel Geo News, shared two videos on his Twitter account, and attempted to mock India for the current unrest in Kashmir, where stone-pelting by anti-Indian elements is a major concern. Mir in a string of tweets showed two videos where in one a man is being thrashed by an Army jawan and the other where a bunch of boys were raising anti-Pakistan slogans, with tears in their eyes and a stick in soldier’s hand. Mir while sharing his tweet questioned “Is it democracy? Armed soldiers of Indian Army beating a student in Pulwama and showing they don't want to win hearts and minds of Kashmiris”. In the second tweet said, “This is an act of weakness from an Army who cannot win Kashmir. Indian soldiers forcing kashmiri students to raise slogans against Pakistan”. Army attitude towards stone-pelters: Indian Army has been following a relatively very soft approach in handling the Kashmir stone-pelters who are responsible for creating ruckus in the valley and disturbing the peace. The stone pelters blindly fire stones on police vans, which in-turn injures the Army officials. On the other hand, the Army officials even though properly equipped, resort to softer means like tear gas and lathis than using weapons and arms. Truth behind Hamid Mir’s videos: On investigating the videos, it was found that the video which was shared on social media claiming it to be a recent video, where a man was being thrashed by an Army jawan was a video from August 2016, when massive violence had erupted in the valley because of stone pelters who favoured Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani. Mir’s claims that the video was recent is false.
