There have been frequent instances where the Muslims of the country have been nudged to show their patriotism and nationalism. Amidst all the hue and cry for nationalism, a Muslim teacher in Assam has displayed undeterred respect for Independence Day, that has silenced all the mouths. Mizanur Rahman an assistant teacher in flood-hit state of Assam went out of the way, to exemplify his patriotism. In a flooded school premise, he and a few others hoisted the national flag just to keep up the spirit of Independence Day. In a Facebook post that he shared, he can be seen hoisting the national flag amidst all the floodwater. Standing in waist-deep water, Mizanur Rahman and another school-staff are seen saluting the high-hoisted flag with an unfazed look. The children in the picture are almost drowned till their necks. This post has gone viral on social media and has garnered 16000 reactions within four hours. In the post, Mizanur has written:  ''Happy independence day to all.....I m the asstt teacher at this school, school name...1185 No. Naskara LP school.. under Fakirganj Police station. Dhubri....no need to tell how we are right now, pic will tell all the stories...i did not expect this kind of support....thank you all for sharing this picture.'' According to media reprots, Rahman said that since they could not do much due to the flooding so they simply hoisted the national flag and sang the national anthem and vande Mataram song. Small children could not be made to stand in water for long so the session was dispersed early. With many of its states inlcuding Assam, Gujarat, Bihar and Uttarakhand,  hit by flood, India celebrates its 70th Independence day.
