Soon after the story broke that Sardesai had been heckled outside the Madison Square Garden ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s speech, a video of the incident surfaced online which immediately went viral.
The video mainly shows Sardesai pushing a man who then reacts while there are various kinds of catcalls and hooting from around.
The tone of the video had many questioning the exact sequence of events that culminated in the mob reaction.
In his defence, Sardesai tweeted that only a part of the video has been released by the single minded crowd there.
First, Kick and abuse while I am on cam asking questions, then release video selectively. Rule of the mob.

Now, another journalist, Achint Sharma, who was witness to a similar incident a little while later has come out with the details.
In a post on facebook, Sharma narrates how sometime after the Madison Square Garden incident, Sardesai was once again surrounded by ‘Modi fanatics’ who were hurling abuse at the senior scribe. When Sharma tried to help him out of the crowd, he became a target of the crowd as well.
Sharma states that matter came to such a head that he and some other journalists who reached the spot, had to make a human chain to extract Sardesai and his cameraman out of the mob.
It is worth noting that no television crew was present and Sardesai’s own cameraman was prevented by the crowd from recording anything. This makes it difficult for those crying ‘publicity stunt’ to explain the incident.
But, since may the crowd had their mobile phones out, Sharma says he is sure that many must have recorded the incident but will not post it 'for reasons not to be named.'
