Akhilesh Yadav seeks an investigation by Govt over Mayawati's charges

Uttar Pradesh: After BSP leader Mayawati levied serious charges against Election Commission and BJP, raising questions over the assembly election results of Uttar Pradesh, out-going Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav backed BSP supremo and said, “If question has been raised (by Mayawati) on EVMs, government should probe it” He also added saying, “I will also look at it on my level”. Mayawati, who chose to refuse accepting her defeat in the elections even though the numbers clearly are in favour of Bhartiya Janta Party, addressed a press conference and accused EC of tampering with the EVM machines. Behenji said,  “EVM didn't accept any opposition vote. I am unable to digest that votes in Muslim-dominated areas have gone to BJP”. She also said that “I openly challenge Amit Shah, if you believe you have won honestly, ask EC to conduct polls again through ballot paper”. She added “If the same system of voting is organised in 2019 polls then democracy in this country won't exist”. On the other hand, Akhilesh Yadav was seen conceding his defeat and said, “Ho sakta hai logon ko Express Way na pasand aaya ho aur Bullet Train ke liye vote diya ho” (may be the people of UP didn’t like the express way we made and are expecting a bullet train from BJP).
