Two Karnataka political biggies join BJP

New Delhi [India], Feb. 05 (ANI): Two political biggies from Karnataka, Kartikeya Raje Ghorpade and HR Gaviappa, on Monday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in New Delhi.

Ghorpade is from Sandur royal family and son of former MLA M.Y. Ghorpade. Gaviappa is an Independent MLA from Hospet. They joined the BJP in the presence of Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar and Ananth Kumar. Later, they also met BJP president Amit Shah.

Ruling Congress and the BJP are leaving no stone unturned to win Karnataka elections. The tenure of Karnataka assembly ends on May 30, 2018.

The BJP began its election campaign officially on November 2, 2017, with the launch of Nava Karnataka Nirmana Parivarthana rally, a 75-day tour across Karnataka led by its state president B. S. Yeddyurappa.

In December 2017, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), although not part of the election campaign, undertook a task of setting up booth-level committees at 54,261 locations in the state. The committees will be responsible to disseminate information on various programmes of the ruling Congress government and their implementation. (ANI)
