Three Bulandshahr gangrape accused sent to judicial custody for 14 days

New Delhi: The three accused in the Bulandshahr gangrape case were on Monday sent to judicial custody for 14 days.   Police have launched a massive manhunt to nab rest of the bandits who brutally gangraped a woman and her teenager daughter after dragging them out of their car at Bulandshahr bypass on Delhi-Kanpur National Highway.   The incident which occurred on Friday night when the family from Noida was from travelling on NH-91 sparked outrage in the country with opposition parties attacking the Akhilesh Yadav government, alleging that "goonda raj" was at its peak in Uttar Pradesh and governance had collapsed.   The three suspects are being interrogated in connection with the incident.   They also looted cash, jewellery and mobile phones. One of the family members, who later managed to escape, reported the matter to police.   Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government on Monday posted PAC officer Anees Ahmad Ansari as the new Senior Superintendent of Bulandshahr following suspension of Vaibhav Krishna after the gangrape of a woman and her teenage daughter by bandits on gunpoint.   Ansari is the Commandant of 34th Batallion of Provincial Armed Constabulary.   Maan Singh has been posted as Additional SP in place of Rammohan Singh, who was also suspended yesterday, an official spokesman said.   Facing the flak from opposition, the government had suspended five officers, including the SSP.
